CLOWN IN THIS CIRCUS

Didn’t sleep well
But I got out of bed
The sun was warm
And the air was bright
Went in to take a shower
Even though I’d rather not
My wife made coffee
So I had me a cup

The day was young
Although I felt so old
I had some things to do
Yet I moved real slow

I’m just a clown in this circus
Sometimes I get paid
Sometimes I don’t
I’m just a clown in this circus
Everybody’s in a rush
But they don’t know what they want

Went into the kitchen
To make some food
I don’t eat out as much
As I used to
It’s not just the cost
I don’t like to leave
I want to stay at home
Where I have what I need / And do my thing

The day was young
Although I felt so old
I had some things to do
Yet I moved real slow

I’m just a clown in this circus
Sometimes I get paid
Sometimes I don’t
I’m just a clown in this circus
Everybody’s in a rush
But they don’t know what they want

At some point
There was no denying
The clock was moving
And I was not
So I got myself together
And drove my car
To get things done
And come back home

It’s good for me to go
And socialize
Even if I prefer
The sight of my own eyes

I’m just a clown in this circus
Sometimes I get paid
Sometimes I don’t
I’m just a clown in this circus
Everybody’s in a rush
But they don’t know what they want
